From The Council: Early Learning and Childcare Parent /Carer Survey – 600 hours

As part of the Children and Young People’s Bill, the Scottish Government plans to increase the number of hours of early learning and childcare for all 3 and 4 year olds.  The Bill will be finalised later this year. If agreed, the plan is to offer 600 hours each year instead of the current 475 hours.

In Edinburgh, we are consulting with parents and carers of children aged 5 and under about the planned increase.  We want to know if you would use the extra hours and how you would like them to be organised.  The examples given in the survey are only possible ways in which the increase in hours could be implemented – there is no commitment that these models will be available in Edinburgh.
