This has been another exceptionally busy week for the school. We are extremely pleased to announce that Brooke (The Polar Bears) is the second winner of the Colinton Cup. There were several nominations and, after careful consideration from the staff, it was agreed that Brooke had been the most deserving pupil for consistently showing excellent table manners and lining up quickly, quietly and sensibly. Congratulations Brooke, from all of the adults at Colinton.
Our senior pupils have also been working hard on their monthly radio address on Garrison FM. You can hear the review on the audio player below. Well done to Carra and Tehya for doing such an good job this month.
At our assembly yesterday we had several guests join us. We were able to present a cheque to SSAFA representatives Mrs Carolyn MacLeod and Mrs Moira Tait for all the fundraising we did on their behalf in the last few weeks. Further details and photos of our efforts can be found further down the page.
We also welcomed Mr Bob Brown from CHAI. Mr Brown spoke about the work he and all his colleagues do and helped us launch our Harvest Assembly appeal. We are asking for all pupils to bring one item of tinned food to help with the work CHAI do in providing those families most in need of extra assistance and support. Please support our Harvest appeal by sending your child to school on Wednesday 26 October with one item of tinned food. Thank you very much for your support with this.
Today our pupils have also been involved in a litter picking initiative in a bid to tidy up our local environment. Their efforts have made a real difference to the area around the school and we would like to thank them for their efforts. Here is a little selection of photos from this morning.
We would also like to draw your attention to the letters sent out this week for the cinema visits taking place to celebrate National Cinema Week. Please help these trips run smoothly by returning these promptly. We have updated the school calendar section of the website and have added this week’s entries to the Golden Book.
Finally, the school will be closing for our October holiday as normal tomorrow, with pupils returning on Tuesday 25 October. We hope you have a wonderful break and look forward to seeing you return fully refreshed after the holidays.
